Public Access Defibrillators for Drigg & Carleton Parish

Public Access Defibrillators

Defibrillators are devices that apply an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat.

If the heart rhythm stops due to cardiac arrest, also known as sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), a defibrillator may help it start beating again

The Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) are located outside Drigg Village Hall, at Saltcoats Caravan Park and at Holmrook Service Station.

In case of an emergency requiring a defibrillator, the procedure is:

  1. Call 999, ask for an Ambulance
  2. NWAS operator will give you an access code which will allow you, or someone giving help, to open the cabinet and collect the defibrillator
  3. Once the defibrillator is switched on it gives verbal instructions and will only activate if the casualty has cardiac arrest.
