Back to Nature on A595 – willing helpers needed for bulb planting 16th October

Drigg and Carleton Community Fund Project

Back to Nature on A595

Drigg and Carleton Community Fund are supporting a community scheme to improve the environment between Saltcoats Road end and Holmrook Village near the bridge. This would entail less frequent grass cutting of these areas, to encourage plants and wildlife in line with Cumbria County Council grass management.

In the past, bulbs were planted in the verges but have diminished. The funding from D&CCF has enabled us to purchase English Bluebells for shady banks and Native Daffodils to naturalise on sunny banks. The areas next to the footpath between the Garage and Holmrook will be planted with scented varieties of daffodils to enhance the walk for pedestrians.

As the war time saying goes we need YOU!

Hopefully, if fine the planting of 400 bulbs will take place on  16th and willing helpers with trowels will be needed.  Meet at 10am at the Bridge Car Park. Adults and family groups welcome. Contact Louise Stewart 019467 24652 for details.
