Yellow and Amber weather warnings for rain across Cumbria

There are Yellow and Amber weather warnings for rain across Cumbria tonight and heavy downpours are causing localised flooding.

It’s important everyone is prepared in the event of a flood:

Top tips during a flood:

  • If you are in danger dial 999 and/or attract the attention of people nearby
  • Turn off water, gas and electricity supplies at the first sign of flooding in your property
  • Be prepared, you may need to be evacuated. Put together an overnight bag just in case.
  • Do not enter/drive through flood waters as depth and current can be deceiving
  • Check on your neighbours, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable.

If safe to do so, please report flooding events to the County Council online or by telephone on 0300 303 2992.
